SAT is highly inaccurate way of testing students. Being a sixteen year old junior, I have recently taken the SAT, twice actually. I took it the first time, and scored pretty well, somewhere around the top 30% of my test-taking group. I then attended with these same people a series of classes that were SAT based. These classes greatly helped my comprehension with the test. I felt far more knowledgeable than I had prior to the classes. I hoped to score better than I had previously.
I also had a friend attend these classes with me. At his first test he had scored in the top 60%. This dismal score was attained through hard work. He was upset about having such a poor score, but apparently not too devastated because he then proceeded to sleep through our classes.
Test day came and we were all together in the room once again. I buckled down prepared to work, while my friend laid back and took a nap. I was working hard when my eyes began feeling heavy. Suddenly I woke up to a ding, signaling that there was five minutes left to the test. Looking down I saw that all my bubbles were filled in. My friend sat near-by filling in random bubbles.
The scores came in, and I awaited my envelope dismally. When I opened it I found that I had scored exactly the same as I had before. Meanwhile my friend scored in the top 10% of the class. This proved to me what I had believed all along, that the testing was an inaccurate source of scoring for colleges to follow.
