According to the masters of the ancient art of feng shui, the bathroom is important to your accumulation of wealth. To achieve success in monetary terms, it is most auspicious to have a full length mirror placed on the outside of your bathroom door.
This will deflect Chi from going down your sinks or your toilet. It is also important to make sure that you keep your toilet seat down when it is not in use, for the very same reason.
If you have a dripping tap or a noisy cistern then it's a good idea to have it fixed. The disturbance of the noise will unsettle you subconsciously and will encourage you to waste money if you don't.
Mirrors are very important in feng shui and those inside the bathroom are no exception. Do not reflect your toilet if possible, but do reflect faucets and any other water outlet. If you can't remove a mirror from facing your toilet then soften the inauspicious affect of it being situated where it is by placing a money plant on top of the cistern, so that it too, reflects in the mirror. This will help to increase your prosperity, as will keeping any metals or reflective areas shiny and clean.
If you have a vanity mirror, or cupboard with a mirror on, then it should not cut your image into two. You need to be able to see your face clearly without disruption to create harmony and peace in your soul.
Where possible, introduce the element of earth into your bathroom to promote balance. The energy of water is good, but needs to be balanced in a bathroom where it is so prevalent. Adding wood, terracotta and clay will help to bring the earth energy to this area and it will neutralize an excess of water and act as a grounding force.
When adding decoration think of the earth. Do not try to replicate water imagery as you already have plenty of this in your bathroom.
The color of the walls should be of earth tone, such as sand or the color of terracotta and beige. They should not be blue as this is a water element color, best suited to other areas of the house such as the bedroom.
Twisted pieces of natural wood, crystals and colored sand will create a feeling of well being and balance.
If your bathroom is situated above the kitchen then place a picture of a tree or have a climbing plant on the floor below to encourage positive energies to flow up into the room.
Never place a photograph of yourself and your family in the bathroom as this will cause disharmony and arguments. Do place pictures of harvesting and farming onto your walls to help you to feel connected with nature and to further balance the element of water.
Green plants with rounded leaves will have a positive effect. Avoid cactus plants as they will disturb your focus and relaxation.
If you have your bathroom in the center of your home this is not immediately a good thing. But do not worry as you can change this by adding red into your bathroom color scheme. Red is not always thought of as good in feng shui, when widely used. But in such a case it will neutralize any wealth problems and increase energy in this area, rather than decreasing it.
Where-ever your bathroom is situated you can benefit by adding the element of fire. This can be done by the use of candles and by lighting.
Candles should never be left unattended and should be placed on a fireproofed dish or in a container. This will ensure that you feel peaceful and safe as you relax in your bath or invigorate yourself in your shower.
