The most important things in relationships are honesty, trust and respect; thus the opening theme is "treat others as you would like to be treated yourself."

No one likes to have his or her feelings played with or to be treated badly, so it seems that this would be a logical concept. Not so, in reality people like to play games with each other. They analyse situations and devise strategies to make things go their way, instead of being honest with each other about their feelings and allowing things to occur naturally.

When you are honest with people trust and respect follows, then they will feel encouraged to be honest with you.

Be yourself, it's easier than pretending to be someone you're not. Facades are hard to maintain and usually fade or drop altogether when one's objective has been achieved. Therefore it is important to trust your instincts if you suspect someone is not being genuine with you or is only looking for short-term gain.

Look for some one who brings out the best in you and vice versa. Everybody has good and bad qualities. Choose someone who enhances your good ones and compels you to play down or omit your bad ones without you noticing. If you can do this for each other you'll have a happy future together.

When you go into a new relationship make sure you're ready to do so. Leave all baggage and doubts from previous relationships in the past, but learn from your mistakes and move on. You or your new partner will have a slim chance of finding happiness together if your thoughts are burdened with experiences of partners you went out with before them.

Relationships aren't perfect, there are going to be times when you upset each other. When this happens sort things out straight away, don't play games or allow problems to fester, especially if your relationship is new. It's better to nip any troubles in the bud straight away rather than allow them to develop into bigger problems further into the relationship.

Give and accept apologies when they are required. Knowing you can talk things over with your partner when things go wrong will build trust and eliminate any insecure feelings.

Most important of all don't settle! Hang in there until you find someone who is your perfect match, then you can be confident you will be able to make a commitment to him or her.
