Ali, they do not call him only "Muhammad" or "Ahmed", they call him "Muhammad Ali" or "Ahmed Ali" completely. They say that no one can be equal to Muhammad in any way. Muslims Love him very much.

Naming Muhammad to children by Muslims shows the influence and love of Prophet Muhammad in their lives, whereas why American or British people have this name on them, I find it mostly in those people who convert to Islam, they name themselves "Muhammad" adding an other short name with it. As Muhammad Ali - a boxer who was born as Cassius Clay changed his name when he converted to Islam; and "Muhammad Yusaf" was a christian and prominent cricketer of Pakistan team has recently accepted Islam changed his name so. There are so many other people in British and United States when they accept Islam; they prefer this name first to have them, because Muhammad is one who was the best follower of this Religion "Islam".

Furthermore, an other cause of being common of this name in the world is because of Islam which is the only Religion spreading so rapidly in the every corner of the world- brighten the hearts of all creed, color and race of the people adequately that they are self forced to know more about this religion. When people ask about Islam they have to know first about "Muhammad (PBUH)".

As for as the variations of the name Muhammad is concerned, there are so many different variations depending on geography and personal application of the name. Here are a few examples.
Muhammad, Mohammad, Mohamad, Muhamed, Mohamed, Ahmed,Ahmad, Mohamod, Mahmod, Mehmod, Mohammod etc.
In last I would like to share few more words with you that Muhammad (PBUH) is the best submitter of God; and the people who believe in God praise his character, achievement, bravery, leadership, honesty, truthfulness, and obedience so much that even deaf and dumb turn their eyes looking at the movement of lips of those persons, to see what the common word is used in their mouths repeatedly; in return they try to move their own lips in the same order and it makes sound "Muhammad".
