Is Satan a defeated foe?

For there to have been a "defeat," there must have been a competition. Ours is not a competing God.

Satan-if you insist upon his existence-is merely God-before-He-Finished. That's what all the angels are. In fact, God Himself is an angel ... not really any more-powerful than any other angel, excepting that a) He created all the angels and everything over which they shine, and b) all the good angels work for Him.

So the pre/without-creation tales of Lucifer and the Evil Half-Legion kind of echo in the corporate industry's Jr. Executives who break off from the Sr. Executives to become their own company. It's also echoed in the Protestant churches breaking away from the Holy Roman Catholic church, in further churches breaking away from the first Protestant churches and in further individual pastors not agreeing with their churches' visions and thus feeling the need to break away even more and build new churches.

I don't want to condemn the practice of breaking-away-and-rebuilding-' for the seed must be broken to allow it to grow'-but I can see why Pope Benedict declares all non-Catholic churches unChristian: Because-as Jews 'follow the pattern of the King' of Israel and as Christians 'follow the pattern of the King' of Heaven, Protestants 'follow the pattern of the King' of Hell.
