In a word: auto-suggestion.

As Helium.com requires an additional 1,199 words, I'll explain 'auto-suggestion' a little. 'Auto-suggestion' is simply "telling yourself something." 'Tell yourself something' constructive-over-and-over-aga in (the number-of-times depends on the strength of the emotions you couple with the telling) in the right frames-of-mind-and you will begin to build what you have told yourself.

You see, EVERYTHING THAT HUMANS HAVE CREATED came about through the use of willpower, which resides within the subconscious mind. The only path to the subconscious mind is the consciousness; everything you experience goes from the conscious- to the subconscious-mind, charged with whatever emotion you automatically assign to such an experience.

For example; you keep telling yourself that the colder weather is uncomfortable and will make you sick, and therefore you stay uncomfortable and eventually do get sick. You tell yourself that no one wants to be seen with you and that you will remain alone, and thus you behave in unattractive ways and live all by yourself.

What you need is a picture of the way your life should be: not 'a picture of the life you've been dealt (even if it IS all your fault and people feel it's the life you DESERVE),' but rather the life you WOULD DESIRE.

For such a life, you would surely be willing to make some sacrifices (and we're not talking about 'fish-heads on the fire' here, but rather some conveniences of life that one must forgo to gain righteousness). Planting 'the ideal life' in your head, you will start to see places where reality does not yet match imagination and will change your behavior to make the match complete-through technical methods at first, and-with practice-by instinct.
