If you can only have one, you have to go with a laptop.
They have a higher level of design and durability and are easier to carry around as you find reasons to relocate it. As a pc user I have had issues with finding a suitable spot for my pc. I mean I can find a place to keep it but eventually I will need to bring in new items into my home and when I do this I have to change the spot my pc is stationed. When I begin moving the pc I have a huge mesh of wires to straighten and roll up and unroll and try to hide again when I finally get a spot to place the computer and desk and keyboard and monitor. It really has been a hassle. Now that I own the computer I really wish I would have gone with a laptop from the start. I already have a wireless router but it really serves no need, so the wireless signal stays turned off until I have a guest over who needs to connect and check their email or bank balance or what ever they feel they need to check up on. When I travel I have no way of checking my bank status and no method of checking my emails unless I set up some sloppy service with my cell phone. The screens on cells phones are always so tiny and the images are so undesirable.

The real winner in the debate of what type of computers, based on life span, portability, size, convenie nce and design is clearly going to be a laptop.
