I believe my mother had life dreams but if she did she never shared them with me. However, I choose to believe she still had those dreams but they were locked away into the dark, cobwebbed cupboard of her being. My mother's days revolved around preparing meals, trying to please my father and keeping the home clean, neat and immaculately tidy.
I have life dreams, some I have had since teenage years and some are still unrealized and unfulfilled. If my life dream as a teenage girl was to marry and have three beautiful children then I achieved that dream. No where in my life dream was there a nightmarish dreamscape of an unhappy marriage ending in a bitter divorce with the impact and fallout affecting so many others.
I try to remember back to the teenage girl I once was, to the dreams I had of studying English Literature and Art, of writing, teaching and the ballet lessons that led to my dreams of dancing with the great Nureyev. I believe to best make our life dreams come true we need to turn these dreams into an attainable and goal making plan. Write the plan on a sheet of paper or in a journal. Make a spreadsheet on the computer but make a plan and make it now. Set out the goals (or dreams if you still prefer) and list them so you can read them, be reminded of them and most importantly work towards them.
My dream of leaving my home town became a goal which consisted of finding a beautiful place to live with a temperate climate and a peaceful, quiet countenance. I worked towards this vision by traveling for several weeks to different towns before finally settling on the small seaside village that has now become my new home.
My dream of returning to study became a goal that involved searching for a course which would provide me with satisfaction, knowledge and fulfillment.
My dream of roaming the world has become
