My favorite memory of playing with my Barbie dolls happened when I was around 6. I already had a lot of Barbie dolls, and would play with them every chance I got. Once day, I got in trouble with my dad. I don't remember what I did, but I do remember that as a punishment, my dad took away all of my Barbie dolls for a week. As a child, a week is the equivalent of forever. I thought I would never get them back. Then, four days later, after my mom picked me up from my swimming lesson, she decided to go to a garage sale. Garage sales have also been popular in the area where we lived as they usually had lots of good stuff for sale. Well, this garage sale had a Barbie camper van for sale that came with five Barbie dolls and clothing. I saw it and of course I wanted it. I begged my mom. I think normally she would have said no, but she saw a greater purpose for the camper. You see we didn't really have a place to put all of our Barbie dolls, we just kind of piled them in the corner of the room. My mom saw the camper van as a convenient storage area for all things Barbie that could be wheeled away when company came. So she bought it, and when we got home, let me play with it. Let me tell you when my dad got home and saw me playing with Barbie dolls he wasn't too happy. He calmed down after he talked to my mom, I think she explained the storage benefits to him. I didn't get the rest of my Barbie dolls back until I was suppose to, but I never had my Barbie dolls taken away again.
