Moving day: How to choose a perfume that will help you stay fresh on this stressful day

You've spent hours carefully packing your breakables, organizing and labeling boxes, and searched high and low for the best deal on a moving truck. The big day has arrived, but there's one thing missing: a pleasant scent.

Unfortunately, there's no getting around the fact that moving is a sweaty, dirty job. It's also a very stressful day for everyone involved - someone drops a box of china, the bed frame ended up in the kitchen, or your entertainment center is suffering the loss of a glass door. Soothing scents can make even the most tedious tasks seem a little more pleasant, so consider wearing your favorite fragrance for a constant pick-me-up throughout the day!

If your usual choice of perfume is a heavy, musky smell - it may be the wrong choice for moving day. This is a day for invigorating, fresh scents (unless you're really trying to impress a cute mover with your sultry scent). You may want to opt for a body spray instead of a perfume - when a body spray wears off, you can easily spritz a little more on to freshen up without "over-doing" it.

The best scents to wear on moving day will help lift your sagging spirits. When you're about to run out of steam, the right aroma will give you a little boost of energy. So what are the best scents?

Cucumber Melon: This dynamic combination will aid in relaxation when your tape-job wasn't good enough and the bottom has fallen out of your box of books.

Apple: The zesty scent of apple will help energize you as you carry box after box into your new home.

Jasmine: Another great relaxer - when the stress of moving starts to catch up with you, a quick spritz will help you bounce back.

Vanilla: This comforting scent will make you feel better about making everyone - even Grandma - pitch in to help you move.

Papaya: It's fruity, it's tangy, and it's fresh. It will help put a little pep in your step when you start to get tired.

Ocean scents: For a few minutes, you'll be able to envision yourself relaxing on the beach and forget that you're sweating and carrying heavy furniture.

No matter which scent you choose, make sure you keep it handy - you want to be able to reach for it whenever you need to freshen up. Stowing it away in your glove compartment is great, but don't forget that it's in there.

Don't forget - your home needs perfume, too! It helps when there's a pleasant-smelling air freshener inside. There are lots of options to choose from, but your best bet will be an air freshener that plugs into a wall outlet and fans it's scent around the room constantly. You may want to put a few of them in strategic locations around the house - the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms are the most important.

Moving day may be stressful, but you can help lighten the mood with a fresh, invigorating scent that will help you keep going all day long!
