How Astrology Works

The belief in Astrology is ones personal choice. The understanding of how it works will not change ones mind either way, but I will try to give you a brief look at how it is put together, and how a reading is gathered from the information.

First let me just say the sun sign is what the newspapers use when you read your general horoscope for the day, it is a hit or miss with no real application of your own personal astrological chart, or what is called your natal chart. A natal chart is a map of the sky at the time and location of your birth, natal planets do not move. They are said to have an affect on you, depending on where your own planets position themselves in your chart.

There are four elements fire, earth, air and water. They stay in that order, starting with Aries (fire), Taurus (earth) Gemini (air) and Cancer (water) then it repeats itself through the signs. You may be wondering why when you get to Aquarius, it will show that it is an air sign the reason being, it actually is an air sign that is very often mistaken for a water sign. It is a water bearer that carries the water, but not a water sign.

There are ten planets they rule the signs some co rule other signs, nine if you don't count Pluto but the affects of Pluto remain the same just as fixed stars. Each planet has a different meaning, as I mentioned above, one meaning for Jupiter is expansion. Saturn is known as the restrictor and or teacher, Moon is the emotions, Mars is aggression and so on. I am not going to go through all of planets; I am just trying to give you a brief idea on their meanings.

Each astrological chart has twelve houses; each one also has a different meaning. The first house represents self or how other people see you; this very often is not your sun sign. The sign in the first house will color your Sun sign giving it some of its own interpretations, I'll give you an example.

*Example: Your sun is in Pisces, most Pisces are known to be somewhat quiet or laid back, but put Gemini in their first house and you get someone that likes to talk. Or perhaps their job puts them in a position of being on the phone. Please note these are just examples there are so many other factors that come into play.

The fourth house represents the roots of your soul, or describes home life both past and present. Seventh house is supposed to describe your partner, tenth house is career and the twelfth house is the subconscious. I did not go through all the houses, I just want to give
