Geico is an acronym for, "The Government Employees Insurance Company," founded in the mid 1930s and was initially for government employees. Today, the internet is their office for all intense purposes, or at least where most of their revenue is generated. They "say" they are still here to support our military folks and have offices on many bases. However, based on what several people in our son's platoon went through, we were not impressed. They were sticking it to many of these people until some knowledgeable folks led them away from the lizard. Like auto loan companies, Geico takes advantage of the military and the ignorance of our young people, with ridiculous rates.
This little lizard was not so cute and fun when we had him in our car either. However, to be fair, I should blame my agent more then the conglomerate Geico. Geico is really an internet based insurance carrier. This is something I have given up on. There is nothing worse then never meeting your insurance agent when you really have a problem. Signs of Geico seem to be everywhere, yet when you need something, at least in our area, Geico "people' are hard to be found. It came as no surprise to me when I found out that J.D. Powers ranked Geico "average" in "responding to customers." This is where Geico makes the little green guy a liar. For us, as I have found elsewhere in customer complaints to various states, it was always, "the computer screwed up," or "you should have gotten that notice." Once those kinds of statements are made, you have nowhere to turn except the old he said she said game. This is why I prefer a local agent, who lives and operates in my town, and has to look me in the face when they explain what went wrong.
As far as pricing, Geico rates slightly better then average, in every study, and state report. I just have a sour green lizard taste in my mouth and would not recommend this company to anyone.
