product? Are they known for a particular style of music, dance, or dress? Is there something notable about the local architecture, or a famous resident, or place?
It could be anything. Native plants and animals, food products, a park, or museum.
Gather as much information as you reasonably can. This would be a great job to delegate. Get printed brochures, local papers, community fliers, and a few party favors. Create welcome baskets for your guests and they will feel much more comfortable.
INSPIRATION
If you are more spiritual by nature, then you will be focused on the sacredness and meaning of the occasion. You may choose a few elements from the above, and add some of your own. Live plants, small table top fountains, inspirational music, and votives may highlight the serenity and joy of your special day. Think Yanni, Enya, or cultural or devotional music of your preference.
Honor your guests by inviting them to share words of wisdom about life and marriage. This could be done instead of or in addition to the traditional toasts. Inspirational poetry could be read or recited. If you chose to include dancing, it may non-traditional, group, or couples dance. Perhaps interpretive dance. Does one of your guests have a great voice? You may chose to invite them to sing a song with special meaning to the couple. With so many couples having different backgrounds, the wedding can be a great start for combining cultures, religious beliefs, and tastes.
Regardless of the theme you choose, fall will provide many options with regard to colors, location, and climate. Remember: Research your location. Get to know your new family members. Involve your guests. And let the theme and style of your wedding reflect the new family unit you are creating.
