Fall provides a spectacular backdrop for a wedding. The weather, holidays with time off, and family get-togethers are all pluses. If you have chosen a fall wedding, here are some theme ideas to help make your day special and memorable.
AUTUMN LEAVES
Real leaves, whether preserved or not, can make great decorations. Imagine leaf bouquets, either as individual colors or combinations. Or leaves and greenery accentuating your bridal bouquet. Also, leaves make great wreaths, freesias, sprays, and baskets. You could even have the flower girl spread red, gold, or yellow leaves mixed with flower petals. Imagine the aroma and texture of this under your feet (maybe bare feet if you are brave) as you walk down the aisle.
Also, don't forget the greenery. Pine, juniper, and holly, to name a few. Each will add a different color, texture, and scent. Even small live trees may be used. In addition, gold coated pine cones, dipped leaves, red holly berries, acorns and even nuts in the shell can be used in a variety of ways for decorating. These are great with big velvet or lacy ribbons, gold rope, or silver tinsel.
MEMORIES
Remember that many of your guests are traveling and meeting new relatives. This is always a bit uncomfortable. But to make the process easier and more relaxed, you might choose to share some intimate memories by way of decorating with collages, albums, and framed photos. A few well selected pictures of both bride and groom at important events growing up, as well as with family and close friends, will add warmth to your wedding and reception.
Also, put out a few personal items that tell something important about both the bride and groom. Perhaps something affiliated with a hobby, craft, or sport. It could be a favorite book, ornament, or even a food cooked from a family recipe. Honor your family members by including them in this. Maybe you didn't wear your mother's wedding dress, but you could put it on display. Perhaps your grandmother makes quilts - have your favorite one out for all to admire. Does your family have some old love letters or original poetry that could be read or viewed?
LOCATION
Perhaps you have found the perfect location for your wedding, but are not familiar with the area. Imagine how your guests will feel, especially if they are going to be staying over for pre-wedding events. Find out what is special about the place you are going to have your wedding and reception. It doesn't have to be famous, just interesting. Do they make a certain
