in homosexuality should come around you need to handle them like you would handle any other person - teach the truth of God always displaying love and compassion but never compromising the message of the Bible.

When I was a young teen in the late seventies I had my first encounter with a person who was caught in the sin of homosexuality. He was slightly older than I am and he said something offensive to me and approached me in a very inappropriate manner. As I look back on that incident I can still remember the immediate anger that I had for this individual because he was attempting to lure me into something that I knew was a repulsive sin in the sight of God. As a young teen I was ready to take matters into my own hands and teach him a lesson. However I first of all reported this incident to my leadership team at the church I was very close to the Pastor and when I reported the incident I was relieved but I wondered what would the Pastor do.

I saw the Pastor and selected members of the church go into spiritual warfare for the soul of this individual. I was somewhat puzzled but I learned a great lesson during this time. Whenever this individual was around the church members he was never singled out or openly flogged. Over the span of about two to three years this individual was in an out of the church.

The Pastor, First Lady, and some selected members who knew about this guys issue continued to pray for his salvation and complete deliverance from the spirit of homosexuality. The Pastor always taught that if you just keep preaching and teaching the Word of God in the spirit of love and compassion the Word of God will either draw an individual or it will drive them. It is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to bring about conviction on the sinner but we the Body of Christ are charged to be faithful to the ministry of reconciliation to all men.

Although that was approximately thirty years ago today in 2007 this guy and I serve on the same ministry team. He is a great asset to the ministry and very faithful to the work of God. If we had not taught against homosexuality and labored for his soul I have no doubt that he would still be lost in his sins.

If we recall from the Scriptures in John 8:11 when the woman was caught in adultery and dragged to Jesus the Lord gave her the following instructions "Go, and sin no more".

Since Jesus is the head of the Church, since He purchased the Church with His blood and we are His body on the earth we should be telling homosexuals and others the same message that Jesus gave them Go and sin no more.
