Exposing the destructive nature of negative talk

In exposing the destructive nature of negative talk we need to first ask the question, what are the reasons behind the use of verbal assault to get our point across? Surely, when we slip into this below average behavior we must have some idea of the hurtful impact dealt to the person on the receiving end. Why is the need there to belittle someone into thinking that they are less than the total sum of who they are. Is it jealousy, contempt, a vindictive nature, the need for dominance or possibly it just stems from our own insecurities making us lash out and hurt those around us, when things are not rolling along the way we expected them to.

There are no borders for destructive negative talk. It can rear it's ugly head day or night, under any circumstances and romantic or family relationships do not hold the monopoly on making people pay when all is not harmonious in our world. It's a competitive world we live in and the old adage rings true that you can catch more bees with honey. So if you feel your temperature rising higher than the Richter scale because of a myriad of reasons take time out and think twice about the power you have to make or break a person. Remember, words are like music in the sense that they can dictate the mood of the moment. So rather than seeing a person stripped bare by a barrage of negativity if they do not come up to your expectations it should be about showing love, compassion and support and making a person feel good about themselves.
