Presidential Elections 2008

Assessing Barack Obama's chances for the 2008 Democratic primaries

Barack Obama has exactly no chance of getting the Presidency. All that we are seeing is just a typical phony-American token display of tolerance in the hypocritically self-acclaimed bastion of democracy and equality. He can't even DRIVE through white America D.W.B. (Driving While Black) - let alone expect anyone with an ounce of brains to believe that he'll be handed the keys (figuratively) to the country.A good comparison, for an understanding of this, is a similar token display of tolerance main-stream America staged just a short time ago:
It involved a certain movie profiling another minority; generally, people questioned each other:'Did you see it?", not discussing the content but simply advertising that they had attended the film and this token gesture was deemed proof of their fair-mindedness and social correctness.
Professionally, critics and social commentators opined that this film was a 'break-through' for this minority, and claimed that 'doubtless', we would now see an influx of cinema in this vein, comments (coincidentally calculated for?)making the impression that the pundits welcomed the coming 'tide' of change.
The movie was 'honored' with double-digit Academy-Award nominations, the beaming 'intelligentsia' cited this as a further proof of the "egalite" of American society;they predicted that it would sweep the Oscars.
As we all know, "Broke-Back Mountain" did no such thing - actually, Oscar-night was the beginning of the end of an uncomfortable time for all the phony posturers who'd extended themselves for so many months, largely in self-defense (fear) and in reaction to peer-pressure (fear). The movie won a minor 'technical' Oscar and quickly faded away into limbo - there was no 'gay revolution' within the film industry.
Generally speaking, the public had made their token gesture of tolerance, and now that episode had passed. The same faked smiles are now directed toward Mr. Obama - for exactly the same reasons (fears) - the same faked praise and vows ("I'd vote for him!")of their 'genuine' acceptance -
that this minority-group member is, indeed, an accepted 'equal' member of this society, as a whole. The delusion will be perpetuated until it's time for confronting reality - then it will be banished somewhere beyond '"Broke-Back Mountain" (definitely closer to Shit Creek) in the minds of the majority.
