Humor: Friendship

Okay, so the topic of the day is friendship. What kind of friendship you ask? Because of course there all kinds. Friendship between two men? Friendship between two women? Oh, here's one I bet you animal lovers can attest to; man's best friend. Yep, there all different kinds of friendship all right. So why is it I don't have one at the moment. Oh sure, My significant other is definitely my friend but he's the kind that will enter the bathroom while I'm sitting on the toilet and pay me no mind if he has to get the tweezers for that damned hang nail that's been bothering him. And rest assured, he will most likely have to do this before he leaves for work. There's an guarantee that I won't have a problem with this, especially since he's working and I'm not.

I'm talking about the kind of friendship presented through some strange and enlightening camaraderie. I'm talking about the kind of friend that calls you up right after Buffy executes a flawless hay maker on a blood sucking opponent. I'm talking about the kind of friend you tell to be ready to be picked up at eight thirty but you get there at nine because you know that he has own unique concept of time and space.
I used to think everybody has had or will have a friend like that, I mean i did. It's only natural right? Don't you believe it. There are three things that began stink if you keep it around too long: fish, family and friends. But lets keep it clean, some of you have been lucky enough to find a real friend. A friend to the end. Of course not Chucky but some other toy like sidekick.
Look at that show "Golden Girls", the most oddly eclectic group of friends every to exist in television history. I mean those four women embodied everything fun and tantalizingly attractive in a friendship. One was the sarcastically sardonic embodiment of brains and leadership, with a dash of man repellent. One took the roll of the token scatterbrain cursed with a bottomless pit of metaphorical mind numbing rhetoric. There was the beautiful, confident slut. I mean, what else needs to be said on that issue. And last but not least, the drastic yet oddly appealing matriarch who served as the group historian. I mean, not until the creation of it's younger incarnation of "Sex in the City" in the parallel universe of TV had we come across such a rousing and true rendition of what friendship could be like. How many times have you and yours questioned which one you were? Are you the fast talking brainiac Dorothy? Perhaps you are the sharp yet time skilled eloquent trash talking old broad, Sophia? What about the brainless story touting naivety of Rose. Dare I even ask about the last nymphomaniac character of Blanche. I guess at times during our friendships we take the roll of each one, depending on what kind of friend we're running around with at the time.
Yeah, I hate to admit that sometimes I miss the fun calamity that springs to life as a direct result of various type friendships. Actually, I find all that I need right now in my significant other. Contrary to my last given impression of him. But nothing ever takes the place of that fun carefree grow to love kind of friendship between a group of people. But friendships may come to an end at some point. But I want to hold out to the belief that there are some lasting friendships out there in the world, even if I haven't seen it. It's a little comforting to believe that there are two old people out there that have been friends for years and are even now laughing at some dumb yet charming thing one them just said.
