You've done it. You've collected months - maybe even years - of bookmarks in your favorite browser and wish to keep a copy of your collection in case Murphy should choose to strike. Unfortunately, this description will only answer to Internet Explorer and Firefox, so stop reading if you use something else.
Internet Explorer maintains a folder that is dedicated to the collection and preservation of your favorites. It is handily labeled 'favorites' and lives in 'Document and Settings\\favorites' on your c: drive usually. In windows XP, you have the option when you right-click an object to 'send to -
> compressed folder'. In this case, the object will be the favorites folder. Once the process is complete, it is a trivial matter to move the newly created zip file to a flash drive or burn it to CD.
Firefox is even easier in that you have no additional file browsing to do. Simply open firefox, Open the 'bookmarks' menu, and select the 'organize bookmarks' object. Now, click on file and select export then save the file to a USB drive or other external device.
Both quick and simple. It is possible that either of the above methods have likely counterparts in the browser world. A little experimentation should be all that is needed and the help file usually is your best bet when in doubt.
