Castor oil, the bane of baby boomers who wanted to stay home from school, has skin healing properties that are dominant enough to be used in the treatment of leprosy. Combined with mineral oil, for optimal consistency, Castor oil soothes the sting of diaper rash while ensuring that they area is not over-dried by the zinc oxide.

White wax and petrolatum make the thickening base that initially adheres to the baby's bottom. The essential oils in Butt Paste are balanced with the thickeners so that the ointment will wash and wipe away from skin without excessive pressure.
