After college comes a very strange time. You have so many expectations; so many plans on how your life is going to turn out.
Then, you get that reality check that your dreams can't cash.
Maybe there aren't any jobs in your field, so you end up working just to pay the bills. You promised yourself you'd never do anything but your passion, but you find yourself behind a cash register, wondering where it all went wrong.
If you're like me, you don't even have a degree, because three years into college, you realized, "This just isn't for me." Not that I have any disdain for learning; I actually enjoy expanding my mind and vocabulary as often as I can. I'm just not under the impression that college is the only way to do that.
Every day is a new struggle. You wonder how you'll ever own a home of your own. You wonder if you'll ever pay off those damn student loans. You question your own judgment, and you wonder why your friends from high school seem so successful compared to you.
I would say that the best way to come out of the gaping maw that is the quarter life crisis is to STOP comparing yourself to other people. Once you discover what really makes you happy (and trust me, it's not dependent on other people's opinions,)you'll find that all the worrying and second guessing yourself is a total waste of time.
Take heart, young Jedi. This feeling of inadequacy won't last forever. Soon, the Force will guide you to your destiny. Whatever that means.
