What will be the real cost of the Iraq war?

by Chaz Z.

I am pleased we want to examine the "real" cost; in doing so we can discern the genuine "costs" verses the temporal loses which are worthless. I am not surprised to see money as some sort of important issue here. Nonetheless, I will answer the question with the only "REAL" answer to the "real costs" that mean something.

The real cost is, and will no doubt be, lives of VOLUNTEER soldiers. Volunteering men and women whoyup, "volunteered" to continue the heritage of the greatest, kindest, most loving, nation on earth. These beautiful people gave their lives to protect even those of their own country that have no respect for them and what they volunteered themselves to "do for others." These lives of our military men and women found their way to their grave doing what America has proudly done since it realized the beauty and blessing of its own democracy should be available to all who want it. These loving volunteers did not just give their lives to protect the disrespectful and uncaring people of America, they volunteered into a known danger to bring democracy to people of another nation. People who DO respect them. People who DO appreciate the selfless acts of love and sacrifice these volunteer men and women have made, while other hateful nations and groups such as the UN stood by and did nothing for decades.

From the first battle outside our nation's borders to help innocent people from wrongs of brutal governments and dictators, we proved the golden rule was part of our nation's heritage. The Golden Rule that says we should love and care for every person. Ironically, the same rule that the people in our country who oppose this war "demand" we have for people within "our" borders. Somehow, outside the confines of our worldly borders, life takes on an apparent different and lower value to these people. They disregard the same love they demand for people here, and in their voices and actions want it to be known, America cares not for others.

Sounds rather selfish if you consider it. No America, it does not just "sound" selfish, it is selfish, and it is shameful that there are enough voices in America to paint this ugly picture of this nation's heart. A nation that once could never have been accused of such a thing. I, like many of our soldiers and others who care for people of ALL nations, are ashamed to be lumped into our politician's world of hate that proves, in deed and in words, that we hate other people. I love this country's people who have this eldritch
