Tribute to mothers

Mothers are fragile creatures and also have super hero qualities. They have ex-ray vision and they always seem to know what you are doing in another room of the house. Their hearing must be ultra sonic, to hear what I said about her under my breath. Her sense of smell was always dead on, as I tried to hide my first taste of beer. Through all the trials of trying to outwit my mother no one could have known how my life would turn out but her.

She always spoke in layman terms, so that I was sure to understand. Her wisdom about my friends were often true and she could tell when I was headed for trouble . Her feelings about my education were not about her teachings, but how I perceived the world. My sense of loneliness, was often handled by her applying and understanding knowledge of what was best to keep my mind busy busy. A distraction from what ever seemed to trouble my mind at the time.

Mothers over protection of me was often smothering. She never wanted me near the waters edge, because I could not swim. How do you learn I would ask of her, unless you get your feet wet. She always had my best interest at heart and deep down in my soul I knew this. My guardian angle was my mother and she new her job well and did it to the best of her abilities.

She was a no nonsense type of woman and she had no room for idiocy. She was to be respected and that was the bottom line. There were no second reasons and her word was definitely final when it came to doing things she thought foolish. I can still feel her touch and hear her voice and I knew her love for me was true and would follow me through all the years of my life.

Mother has since passed and she is in heaven with my father. I realize how much mothers are taken for granted and my mother was my mentor from the age of thirteen on. That was my age when my father passed away and she had the duty of raising me by her self with out a father figure in my life. I could sense her loneliness and her torture and pain. I knew it was my time to step up to the plate and support her. She had provided for me for so long and sacrificed so much so I could have a chance at a decent life. I owed this to her and it would be my tribute to take care of her as she had taken care of me.

Mother had spent many a sleepless nights up with me being sick, or having an ear ache. Her energy was endless and I never heard her complain because she did what ever it took to get me to a point in my life that I could fend for myself. Mother made me a responsible man and though she has been out of my life for a long time now. I still can feel her love in me as I raise my own children. I have kids and through the years I have caught myself saying words that my mother said to me. I look at these gestures as a hand me down trait, one that will be handed down to my grandchildren in the future. To instill in to the hearts of my kids and their kids that love never dies. You carry it with you!
