I Honestly Believe...
I honestly believe that I will never find a man as good as my father. They just don't make 'em like him anymore! I come from a generation of men (if you can call them that) who are given too much, expected to contribute very little to society, and have taken no advantage of the wealth of opportunity that is available to them. You show me a man with the heart, work ethic, maturity, unselfish nature, and sharp mind of my father, and I will show you a very lucky woman.
I honestly believe that karma exists whether one believes in it or not. In every wrong that is done to me, I choose to keep my integrity in tact and not seek revenge. Every person is responsivle for their own emotions, and I would rather let karma run its course than waste any anger, bitterness, or resentment on someone who obviously could not waste the slightest emotion on me. In the end, we all get what we deserve, both good and bad.
I honestly believe that "I Love Creepy Old Men" must be written across my forehead. Because whenever I hit the bars, it's a given that the first person to approach me will be just shy of 50, smell like mouthwash, have a generous amount of frizzy white chest hair poking out of his shirt, and tell me I have the prettiest eyes he's ever seen. I dread the day when one of them buys me a drink and their dentures fall in.
I honestly believe that parents need to start doing just that-parenting. Why can I not go to Starbucks without seeing a gaggle of 14 year old girls wearing $200 jeans with strategically placed rips in the inner thigh, an exposed midriff, and bra-straps showing through their tank tops where there is not even enough development to constitute wearing a bra? How are these girls paying for their non-fat soy lattes and designer purses? How do they know what a latte is? And how come "thank you" is not a part of their vocabulary. I guess it just goes to show that money can buy you a lot of things, but it can't buy you class.
I honestly believe that every high school graduate should travel before they go to college. And then travel more after you graduate college. There is only so much you can learn on a campus or in a home-and there is so much beyond what we are familiar with that will teach us far more than we ever thought to consider. In order to be happy in life, you must do what you love and love what you do, and taking your time to figure out what you are really passionate about is worth more in a lifetime of happiness than what any amount of money could have paid for in a degree. I can sit at a desk for the next 20 years and measure my success in paychecks, or I can explore the world, learn about anything and everything, and discover the capabilities that I know lie within me somehwere.
