Poets have written about it, artists have fallen in love with it and countless romantic stories have been set in it. The Fall is quite rightly considered the most majestic season of the year due to the rich and opulent array of colours that can be seen. For this reason, many people choose to hold their wedding ceremonies during the autumnal months. Like the harvest being brought in by the farmers in their fields, cheerful guests gather for the special day to celebrate the sowing of a lifetime together.

However, there are drawbacks, the weather being one. The blushing bride does not want to be red for the wrong reasons and so it is important to consider the clothing choices on offer for this time of year, for the sake of the guests as well. It can be difficult to judge what the temperatures will be during the Fall, in North America so outfits that lend themselves to shawls and wraps should figure highly as far as the bride and bridesmaids are concerned. Think also about sheer long sleeves.

The style and colour of the wedding attire is one of the most interesting choices the families will have to make. Natural tones and complexions that are synonymous with the Fall should be considered as the main background colour for clothing on both men and women. Provide that all important visual warmth by using colours such as brown, maroon, burgundy and even certain shades of cream. These can then be wonderfully contrasted with brighter colours in the form of flower attachments, ties and jewellery.

People forget the large choice of colourful Autumn plants and foliage. The stunning light purples of the Hydrangea would contrast splendidly with a rich maroon or deep red. Sunflowers whose yellow would create a spark amongst greens and browns, then of course there is the Rose, perfect for the romance of the occasion and a fabulous accompaniment to a whole host of darker tones.

The reception interior should be based along the same lines as the clothing. That being said, there are a great variety of themes that can be incorporated which are not necessarily connected to the guest's fashion style. A wedding based on a romantic fairytale or an old Bavarian beer hall would leave memories with people forever. Earth toned linens are perfect for the table spreads and various covers. Match these with lucent oranges, light reds and golden shades that will remind people of the snugness and cosiness of a hearty fire. Wicker baskets, wooden barrels, incense, dried flowers and low lighting will add an extraordinary touch to the ambiance and most importantly the feel of an authentic Fall wedding.
