And it is by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, that it is possible for us to be cleansed of our sins, and thus so forgiven by God and the grace which He has provided, that we can enter into the Kingdom of God.
It is only blood that can atone for sin; that's a biblically-stated fact.
It seems that the blood sacrifices of animals can provide this atonement, but only up to a point. These sacrifices should be unblemished and of a certain age, to be most effective. They also needed to be offered up by holy and properly authorized priests, on behalf of those who knew the LORD God and were sincerely repentant.
Unfortunately, men didn't follow the right ways of God, but tried to short-change Him, and offer up sacrifices that are least likely to affect the size and breeding of their own herds. They simply didn't understand the importance or the significance of following God's ways to the T'. Nor do we even now. This is why God provided us with the perfect sacrificial Lamb in the form of His Word made flesh.
We must remember that the LORD is not a despot. He does not make us do things, simply because He wants it done that way. He directs us in the ways that are to our own special benefit; not His. He is the Creator, and as such, can raise up stones (or anything else) to replace those who persist in this idiocy of undermining the importance of what He ordains as correct and righteous.
From David Pawson, I learned that perishing' does not mean death'. The Biblical phrase those who are perishing', means those who are becoming unfit for the purpose for which they were created. Thus the parable of the potter and the clay.
For instance, if God created us as plants pots, He would put holes in the bottom to allow drainage of excess water. It is to our own detriment to try and insist then on becoming watering cans. We simply cannot hold any water because of the holes in our bottoms, to be in any way effective in carrying water - and yet we persist!
How dare we? How can we, as clay, argue against the potter's design and objective? Thus we perish' becoming unfit for our own individual purpose, and the collective good for which we were formed. Yet God has persisted with us in spite of our bull-headedness; out of pure love for those He has created and brought into being.
We do need to be beware however, for there is a short time-frame in which we need to lay hold of God's grace, before it is too late. This time-frame basically consists of our own individual
