Fall wedding theme ideas

Any seasonal theme is easy to work with. Just look around! Fall is a time of harvest and changing leaves. When working with any theme it is important to consider colors, decorations, cake, flowers, and music.

The colors are the easiest of all decisions. Fall colors should reflect all the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. Reds, oranges, rusts, mustard yellows, burgundy, hunter green, and wine are the obvious choices.

Decorations are where you get to show your creative side. Most traditionally a fall theme includes hay bales, pumpkins, squash, fall leaves, gourds, cranberries, dried flowers, and herbs. Apples and grapes are also very effective in a fall themed wedding. Pumpkins, squash, and gourds can easily be used for candle holders to add a little creative flair. Grapevine wreaths can be used on wall spaces at the ceremony or reception site. Hearts and flowers and can also be carved into the flesh of pumpkins and squash. Roman style urns with flowers and grape clusters flowing over the edge are excellent center pieces in a fall wedding. Wrap fauxe leaves around a candle holder and secure with a brown string tied around it for extra fall decor. Potpourri bags can be used to decorate, and add that crisp fall scent to an indoor wedding.

The flavor of a cake can really add to the theme of the wedding. Choose something spicy such as a carrot, apple or banana cake for a fall theme. The cake can be decorated with similar items that have been used to decorate the wedding. Delicate ivy can be made with icing, and candy pumpkins could add a wonderfully fall affect.

Flowers should of course be accented with fallen leaves and ivy vines. Table arrangements and center pieces can include grape clusters to accentuate the beauty of fall. To highlight the texture of the fall season, dry grasses like rye and wheat can also be used in the bouquet. A few excellent fall flowers include poinsettias, holly, carnations, iris, and jasmine.

Ceremonial music should include Celtic sounds, violin, flutes, and classical guitar. Harps are also beautiful additions to any fall theme. A poem that incorporates fall and harvest into the love that is shared between the bride and groom is also an excellent touch.
