Fall wedding theme ideas

have your attendants pass them out in Halloween buckets used for trick or treating. Send guests home with bags of candy for favors. For a Thanksgiving wedding, go light on the whole Pilgrim/Indian idea. Instead focus on the feast, the ship, and other less childish aspects of the holiday. Cornucopias would be a great choice for centerpieces. It's okay to use turkey for the reception, but don't go with traditional turkey and stuffing. Find a more exotic take on this Thanksgiving bird. In the spirit of the holiday, have everyone write what they are thankful for on slips of paper and put them in a big basket. The wedding party can read their own answers aloud for the guests.

One of the great things about choosing autumn for a wedding is the color. Autumn colors are bolder and more regal looking than the blah pastels used in the cookie cutter spring weddings we see so often. They can give your wedding a feeling of royalty and sophistication. And there are so many hues to choose from. Crimson, gold, rust, burgundy, caramel, chocolate, and plum are just a few of the shades at your fingertips. Amber is great too, especially for lighting. Amber light bulbs are subtle and not too bright. They can give a wedding venue a more romantic, glowing feel. Another great lighting choice: candles. They can completely transform the atmosphere, and there is so much you can do with them in your decorations.

Autumn is also a great choice for a wedding because of the cool temperatures. You don't have to worry about sweating a lot or dealing with a lot of bugs. Outdoor weddings can be on a farm or in an orchard, and the reception can include a bonfire. Indoor festivities can take place in a pretty barn. And no matter what your theme, fall foliage can play a big part in your decorations. Leaves can be spread on tables, dropped by the flower girl, floated in fountains or bowls filled with water, hung from the ceiling... the possibilities are endless. There are so many ways to create a beautiful, memorable ceremony in the fall. Just take the colors that nature gives you and let your imagination do the rest.
