How to get fit without spending too much money

It is not necessary to spend a fortune in order to create a viable health and fitness routine for yourself or your body. Nor do you need to have a room set aside and equiped as a gym to reach this target. Our every physical and mental movement can be used to help us towards the peak of fitness.

PHYSICAL
1) Walking and running. A brisk, reasonable length walk, three times a week will produce a fitter body and a better physique. One can achieve this by setting off for work a little earlier and walking part of the distance. Similarly a short run or jog over the same timescale will have the same effect.

2) Avoid the lift and talk the stairs. Walking up and down stairs will strengthen the muscles and expand the lung capacity. If you are carrying items, for example in a work environment, this will also help in strengthening arms.
3) Stretching exercises, which can be performed last thing at night or first thing in the morning, will help to keep the muscles and body tone fit.
4) Dancing is also another excellent form of exercise and, what's more it is enjoyable.

A self controlled program consisting of the above will help you to a goal of prime fitness. It will not cost you anything, and will result in a fit and healthy body which will not become a muscle-bound hulk.

MENTAL
1) Reading is important for mental development and agility. I try to read one book a week for this purpose. In addtion it is, in my opinion, a more valuable pasttime than watching television. In addition it improves knowledge and other skills.
2) Use mental arithmatic rather than calculators. Again this will help to keep the brain active. Memory improvement will also result from this activity.
3) Writing for sites such as Helium also acts as an aid to mental agility and health, whilst at the same time working the thought processes and inceasing knowledge.

Thus it can be seen that fitness of both mind and body can be achieved through everyday activities. Such a program is also enjoyable and dispenses with the need to spend considerable amounts of money on equipment, which may only be used occasionally.
