Fantasy allows the limit of our imagination. A land far away or a dream of a sunny day. Kings and Queens and magical places. The exercise of our imagination allows the excitement and invigoration of body, mind and soul.
There can also be a dark side to fantasy. Imagination can often lead to unconscionable acts. Imagination may be put in motion that lead to destructive events. Mind translates into dark acts. How do we overcome such adversity? Our imagination leads us out of sorrow into dreams of future prosperity. For we rely on our fellow man to have a sense of humanity in the face of our adversity.
For within our imagination lies our humanity. The world may be cruel and out of sync with our ideals of fairness and equality. Fantasy allows us to remain sensitive to our humanity. Therein lies the argument that fantasy keeps life in balance. For every depressing world event there is a counter balancing thought of how the world should be.
Our humanity is a function of our imagination, an interpretation of our ideals. How do we believe the world should be? How do we mold our imagination to match our ideals? Is it for society to determine that we no longer appreciate dark events? In part, society determines our ideals. The rest is our fantasy. The scope of our imagination.
What determines the scope of our imagination? I leave that up to you to determine. In the fantasy lies the reality. Life is our reality.
