From the moment the plus sign shows up on your pregnancy test you feel tired. Most likely you are NOT suffering from narcolepsy, its just one of the many symptoms of pregnancy.
What is it about being pregnant that makes you so tired? There are many things that factor into this. First, your body is producing more of the hormone called progesterone, which is a natural sedative. Second, an increase in your metabolic rate that helps insure that baby is getting all the nutrition he or she needs. Basically, when your body needs to work harder, you need to get more sleep.
There are a few things that you can do to help ward off the sandman. Sunlight gives you energy and helps wake you up. If time permits, take a walk in the morning sunshine, if its cold, or you just don't feel like it, have your breakfast by a window.
Don't forget to eat your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack too. Make sure your diet includes plenty of carbs and protein, they are natural energy boosters.
Don't rely on caffeinated beverages to wake you up, they provide a quick pick up and a quick drop in energy. And to much caffeine is not good for you while pregnant anyway.
Be sure to exercise everyday, even just a few stretches will give you a little energy boost.
Make sure to ask your doctor before beginning anything to strenuous, you may think you can do something, but your doctor and your body might have different ideas. Don't hurt yourself.
It will also help if you take vitamins that your doctor recommends. Pre-natal vitamins are high in energy boosting goodness.
Last, but not least, why not give into the fatigue. Go to bed a half hour early, stay in bed an extra fifteen minutes in the morning, and if your schedule permits, grab an afternoon siesta.
Don't worry moms to be, before you know it you won't be getting much sleep at all!
