Christmas has a lot of meaning, and the birth of Jesus is one. Even though it pains to see a lot of us buying gifts for others maybe to the receiver it is something valuable. Instead of pointing fingers, look at the world through the other person's eyes.
Every year what I do with my kids and family members is I would read a bible story about the birth of Jesus. For older kids we do bible games and similar things, one year we did skits and the other we did crafts. Christmas is what we make it. If we teach our kids at a young age they will understand the true meaning of Christmas. If we remind others it is about Jesus Christ's birth they will remember the significance of the season.
Although the world may look at Christmas through a different perspective, we should remember the significance of it and do better than the world. Share and give to those who truly need. Even teach the word to them because for Christmas, the best gift of all is sharing the story of Jesus Christ.
Truthfully, I think everyone knows deep down inside that Jesus was born on that day and it is the reason for the season to be so jolly. Everyone buying gifts, and to some the gift mean more than an item. It's a living necessity of a human body. Clothing to keep us warm, food to keep us full, and songs to keep our spirit lifted. It's definitely a spiritual season to me.
