The NFC and the AFC...quite a difference if you look into the talent pool of each conference in the AFC you have elite teams such as the Patriots, the Colts, the Steelers.
But, in the NFC you have teams that are a step below that, the Packers, the Cowboys, and the New Orleans Saints...but then who this is the best part of the NFC is that every year they have a different conference championship game last year the Bears and the Saints, two years ago the Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers, and even three years ago the Philadelphia Eagles and the Michael Vick led Atlanta Falcons.
The AFC championship and playoffs always have the same teams the Colts, the Patriots, the Steelers. The last four AFC championship games have been the Patriots vs. the Colts, two years ago the Steelers vs. the Broncos, three years ago it was the Patriots vs. the Steelers, and four years ago it was the Patriots vs. the Colts. The AFC is generic when the NFC is diversified.
When you look at the NFC this year two teams really stand out, the Green Bay Packers, and the Dallas Cowboys (who play November 29th)and that could decide the NFC playoffs home field. That's who will play in the NFC championship game this season and one of those teams will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Favre has re-emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the league and little Tony Romo is having a very good season for bid D. Both teams have good quarterbacks, with explosive offenses but there are two deciding factors for this game. 1.
Whose defense will step up and play shut out defense and the packers have probably the most rounded defense in the NFC with that rotation of linemen and their stellar linebacking core, but they also have the best cornerback tandem in the NFC possibly the entire league in Al Harris, and Charles Woodson. The Cowboys run the 3-4 with Tank Johnson now as their nose tackle, LB's Anthony Spencer, Demarcus Ware, Gregg Ellis, and Bradie James along with safety's Roy Williams and Ken Hamiln.
The Second deciding factor will be where the game would be played and that could have a huge role in the game. If its played in Green Bay where in January its likely to be freezing that would help the packers who would be used to those conditions and the cowboys could have problems holding up in the cold(Ice Bowl II). But, if its played in Dallas that could provide a more even playing field with the advantage pointing towards Dallas due to the Home Field.
Outcome:
Green Bay shocks the world the week after Thanksgiving
