Rather than giving a list of various websites (especially since we have varied readers from all over the world), I will mention purely the types of items that would be idea.
The first thing to take into consideration is the type of gift that would be ideal. The best bet is to go for gadget type items especially ones that can be part of the wonders of your desktop. I always like gimmicky items that are USB powered in some way and make a great piece on your very own desktop or even the workplace. Back in the summer last year I found USB powered fans to be very useful with the type of heat we were getting. Unfortunately it wasn't all that powerful and I later discovered a much portable fan which oddly was powerful enough that you could hear it literally tearing the air apart through it's fans.
Another recent item I got was a USB powered mini fish tank. Yes it seemed very odd yet it was just as mesmerising as a lava lamp (note to self - look for possible USB powered mini lava lamps if such exist). Unfortunately the motor on it gradually became noisy over time until it had problems with operating at all.
The main thing to take into consideration for a gift is will it be of use? Sure gimmicky items are funny, but will they last? Plus how long will it's appeal last without getting sick of it after a few days?
So really as long as it's some form of gadget that can be connected via a PC I would find useful especially for 'web search geeks'. It pays to shop around on gadget websites because they contain the most intriguing of items of them all compared to Amazon style websites. Finally to get an idea of what said person may like ask them what they like to do or anything they would find better if they use the web quite often. Anything from multimedia keyboards or mice could make all the difference.
