Not Yet! But, soon, if we refuse to wake up!
We were talking "Politics" around the brunch table last Saturday morning. I was struck at first by the diverse opinions in the room and also aware of those who would rather not engage in the conversation at all. At one point religion popped up as a subject in response to the suggestion that President Bush runs this fine Country based on his "Religious" beliefs alone. Followed closely only by the other thing many people believe drives President Bush, OIL.
A few of us felt compelled to share our "religious" beliefs or lack thereof, as the case was. We had one Atheist, one Agnostic, one Spiritualist, one Christian and one who is in "Relationship" with Jesus Christ. I observed that for those who do not believe in what I believe in, it makes them very afraid and upset to know that our President is a Christian. But, do I think that our current President cares enough to have any idea what the average American Born Citizen wants this country to look like? Absolutely not!
After about an hour or so of banter back and forth and all around about Politics, War, Religion and Government, the one thing that we could all agree on is that; the main problem with all of those things are that they are all corrupt on some level. Frankly, The PEOPLE have no idea what is going on and have absolutely no faith in their government. We cant trust them to not only make right choices but to make right choices for the right reasons and then tell the truth about them. We Americans have always been a people who will fight tooth and nail for what we believe in, when the cause is just. Many more have died in previous wars and we who live in this free America today should be honoring each one of those lost in previous battles by standing up and fighting for our FREEDOM. To allow all of their sacrifices to be in vain so that the Government can work against the American Middle Class and terrorism can cripple our way of life, would be a terrible shame. So, it's only my opinion that to do nothing in the face of 911 would have been an outrage. But, the debate never ends there, does it? Why? Because the Government lied and bent the truth to justify a war that has pressed our Military too thin and is costing more then my great grand-children's generation will be able to recover from. That is of course, if the face of America as we know it lasts that long.
The American people would support a US Government that was truly built on the principle "of the people, for
