It is important to develop healthy eating patterns early in your child's life when introducing them to baby foods. When first introducing your baby to more solid foods, feed them veggies and such for at least 2 months before introducing them to fruits or anything sweet and or fruity. This can successfully promote healthy patterns for later on in life with your child.
Of course we expect everyone to develop their own taste for certain foods but did you know that you shouldn't give up. You should offer the same food at least twelve times before the child really can comply that they don't like it, this also gives you the chance to try new things with the food.
Let's take green beans for example or anything green, my children don't like the looks of anything green, the color green just gives off the wrong signals or something. Well there are many different ways we can spice up the greens. Remember we have twelve shots here. I'll throw a few at you....
Well first off I sure liked Rachael Ray's point on this one, smother the greens with gravy.
This will give you a few outs to try new things like chicken stock gravy, cheese gravy, and different kinds of herb gravies to enhance flavor. I personally will just kill three birds with one stone and make a casserole. Something that is easy and healthy is tuna casserole. You have dairy, meat, starch, greens, and the famous cream of mushroom. My growing boys gobble this up and don't think twice about the greens. You can insert greens all over, they never ruin anything. Making piggies in a blanket, stuff those greens into the cheese and dogs. Stuff your baked chicken with broccoli cheese paste. There are truly endless possibilities here.
Once again don't give up, keep offering up the same food, don't take no as the final answer until at least twelve times. How about those salads, do you find it hard to get your kids to eat salads?
Well I'm one of those people who can make anyone try a salad, why?, because I don't stop at lettuce, tomatoes, and dressing. I go for the whole nine yards. Boiled eggs for protein, shredded cheese and Parmesan sprinkles and for some reason ham just adds that final bit of flavor for a nice tasty salad. Let your child choose a dressing, this can make all the difference. Set out tasters on a plate.
How about the average of obesity in young children rising, this is mainly the parents fault for not monitoring their children's eating habits and buying to much junk. The salt and sugar amount in junk food is enough
