Websites are important when running a business, but only in conjunction with all the other important factors such as truth, quality and customer care.

1) The shop window aspect of a website should be used to display your product or service. However those products or services should be displayed in a way that does not misrepresent those items. If the product or services does not perform a particular function, do not say that it does.

2) You should use the website to extol the virtues of what it is that you are offering. Do not use it to knock a competitor.

3) The website must include contact details. This will give the potential customer confidence in you.

4) Websites have the potential to reach a global market. Bear this in mind when thinking about the content. You need it to be understood by people who may not be native to your country. Think about translation as well, for the same reason.

5) Websites can be useful for achieving customer feedback. May people feel more comfortable giving feedback in written form, especially if it is adverse comments, than verbally. You need to know what your customers think of you, your business and your product or service.

6) One of the most substantial benefits of a business website is that it allows for the global expansion of your business. Using the World Wide Web you will be able to offer your product or service to over 90 million potential consumers
