Poetry: Speed of life

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Where are we going in this fast paced life?
What are we trying to do?
With our energies expended,
To where are we ended?

Where are we going in this maize of life?
What focus are we passionately clinging to?
What will we gain?
After all the work, tears and pain?

It seems like a circular route, does it not?
Sometimes we go north, and then return to where its hot.
After all is said and done,
Was the prize worth the run?

As we rush from sunup to sundown
We barely know if we should laugh or frown.
It takes a lot to hold a steady course.
Sometimes we don't know if we're carrying the load
Of a mule or a horse?

When it is time to settle down,
Our minds keep working, churning and turning round.
Our body wants to stop. Our mind does not.
Even when we're asleep, answers are being sought.

The only way to end this mayhem and test.
Is to do what we can and leave the rest.
Life is more than going at breakneck speed.
God gave us life. Let's enjoy it indeed.

Take time to rest and pray.
Seek some good things every day.
Drink in beauty, love and fun.
Then life will be worth the marathon run.

    You smiled, we wept.
    You rolled, we laughed.
    You sat, you slept.

The days go by so fast, my child,
    And

    Road Less Travelled

    Easy does it now,

    Slow it down some,

Get off the fast track and don't unravel

And take the road less traveled.

    Listen to the quiet noise
from little girls and little boys.
    Notice their gentle poise

    Down memory lane.

    It seems like only yesterday,
when I walked the park as a child.
    Running carefree,
    innocence and youthfulness.
    Oh,
