Once upon a time in the age of online marketing and web design,
there was a website that contained content. The designer of that website registered for a domain name, but had trouble coming up with a good name for his website. After he decided to name his website after himself, the designer then used the Search Engine Optimization Tool for optimizing his website. However, when it came to choosing keywords that best describe his website, the designer was again faced with a predicament. So, he decided to use his name again as the only keyword. Finally, after he submitted his website to a search engine, the designer browsed the web expecting to find his website. Yet, after he typed the keywords of his website into the search box, the designer was returned with no results. The designer, getting confused, typed down the name of his website only to find no results. In the end, the designer failed in his attempts to publish his website.
Now, what is wrong with this story?
Why did the story not mention the type of content in the website?
Why did the designer name his website after himself, considering that the content is unknown nor has nothing to do with his name?
And why did the designer use his name again as the only keyword for describing his website?
The theme of the story is to generate a short length and easily readable domain name that is relevant to the content of your website. For example:
1. The general content in my website is math.
2. I can use the keywords often used within my website as keywords describing my web pages.
3. To distinguish from other websites, I will include my name in the domain of the site.
To create a domain name, the designer can use the following basic steps:
1. Write the content of your site first.
2. Pick out words that you used often within the content of each web page.
3. Based on the headings of each page and keywords used repeatedly, connect all of them to a single word.
If you want, you can distinguish your domain name by including anything that relates to your content, including your name, or by including a word or number that relates to your domain name.
