Things College Professors Usually Hate

College professors can either be the best thing that ever happened to you, or they will be your worst nightmare. Here are a couple things that professors usually hate.

1. Lateness or absences/assumptions about missed work
There are very few reasons for being late or missing class. Usually extreme sickness or a death in the family are the only ones. Other than that, nothing is tolerated. Being absent once or being late one time may be okay, but once you go past that, teachers hate it. Being late to class every single time, no matter what the excuse is not acceptable, and teachers hate it! Connected to this is when students assume that they will be able to make up the work they miss. Teachers make no such assumptions.

2. Disrespect to them and fellow students
Acting like you think you know everything, talking when the teacher is talking, or ignoring the teacher are all signs of disrespect, and teachers hate when you do any of them! Teachers also hate it if you disrespect your fellow students. Common courtesy is expected at all times.

3. Talking when supposed to be working
Professors hate it if they give time in class for certain assignments, and the student is talking instead of working. No excuse for this.

4. Not doing the work
Teachers hate when students don't do the assignments, whether it's simple worksheets, or term papers. They aren't just giving you the assignments for fun!

5. Not taking notes, copying down information
Teachers hate if they are lecturing, and nobody is paying attention and taking notes. They find it extremely irritating when they write things on the board, and nobody copies them down.

6. Interruptions: Talking or Cell phones
Professors hate being interrupted, whether it's answering another student's question or in the middle of lecturing. They especially hate it if the student does not raise their hand, or the interruption is the ring of a cell phone.

7. Excessive Raising of the Hand
Nobody likes a know-it-all, so is it surprising that professors hate students who raise their hand to comment constantly? The professor wants to hear from other people!

8. No class participation
There's raising your hand too much, and then there's not raising your hand at all. Professors hate it if you sit silently, every class, and make no attempt to participate in discussions or answer questions.

9. Excessive Bathroom/Cigarette/Cell Phone Breaks
No surprise that teachers hate students leaving in the middle of class. Students taking a
