Although we may like to think that the teenage girls of today have heard of the term "it's the thought that counts", most of them unfortunately haven't. Don't let this discourage your gift giving and give into a gift card to Boston Store. All you need to know are come basics about teenage girls and their likes and dislikes.
.) First, if possible find a little more out about the person you are buying for. If it's your daughter then you're already a step ahead but if you are buying for a niece or someone like that ask someone who does know them what they like. For example, a good piece of information is whether they have just gone into a bulky jewelry phase or are dying to own that plaid skirt from American Eagle (a popular teen store.)
.) Venture into that crazy, music blaring teen store. It may not be as bad as it may seem on the outside. If you feel completely lost once inside, find a sales person and ask their opinion of what they think would make a great gift. They may have some experience on the topic and help you out a lot. If these "teen stores" are like a foreign language to you then here is some quick advice as to what type of teen would shop where: (black loving punk teen- Hot Topic; preppy teen that likes bright colors- Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle; not sure what kind of teen your shopping for try these- Wet Seal, DEB, Forever 21, Claire's , juniors or jewelry section in Boston Store, Macy's, Kohl's, JCPenny's)
.) Get back in touch with your fashionista self. Every fashion has to include nail polish. Go to any store and just pick our some pretty and maybe even crazy colors. If you want to throw in a little something extra get them a manicure or pedicure kit (nail file, lotion, etc.) Other wise they will most likely love any sweet scented, spa related gifts.
.) Magazine subscriptions to a fashion teen magazine ( teen vogue, cosmo girl, etc.) is a guaranteed hit.
.) PAJAMAS, every girl (even the most fashionable) love to climb into those comfy pj's at night. Just go pick out a pair that are fuzzy or have a bright, fun pattern. If you want you can even throw in slippers (fuzzy of course.)
