GRRREAT GIFTS FOR YOUR LITTLE CUB SCOUT
Whether your little cub is just starting out as a Tiger Cub, has advanced to a Wolf Cub, is now a Bear Cub, or is preparing for the transition to Boy Scouts as a Webelo, a great Christmas shopping strategy is to select gifts that will help him earn his badges or foster his interest in the Cub Scouts. The gift suggestions to follow are organized in two ways.
First, I offer suggestions for gifts that would be appropriate for any Cub Scout. Next, I offer suggestions based on the packs because some items need to be age appropriate. The right gift for a Tiger Cub will not always be the right gift for a Webelo, or vice versa, as there is usually a 3-4 year age difference between these two packs.
GIFT SUGGESTIONS FOR ANY CUB SCOUT
First, does your Scout already have his handbook, uniform, and badge holder? If not, this would be a great time to get some of these necessary items. Maybe he has a uniform, but only the shirt and pants or shorts. You could go ahead and get him the belt, scarf, scarf slide, and hat.
Second, does your Scout have all of his camping supplies? A tent, sleeping bag, canteen, and flashlight would make good gifts for Scouts of all ages.
Third, does your Scout have a good pair of waterproof, hiking boots? Many Cub Scout activities are outdoors and you can't go wrong with sturdy, waterproof, hiking boots. Along with this, maybe your Scout could use some thermal underwear, gloves, or moisture-wicking socks.
Finally, does your Scout have a backpack just for hiking and a duffel bag for camping? If this is something that the cub enjoys doing, you should try to dedicate separate bags for this, rather than using the child's school bag. That way, the bag can be packed in advance and be ready when the opportunity arises to have an outing.
GIFT SUGGESTIONS FOR TIGER CUBS OR WOLF CUBS
Tiger Cubs are just starting out; they are the youngest group, the first graders. These boys are around six years old. Second graders are Wolf Cubs. These boys are usually seven years old. I group these two together because toys and other items are often categorized as age appropriate for five to seven year olds. Here are some gift ideas for boys in either the TIGER or WOLF CUB packs:
1. Beginner's Fishing Set
2. Walkie Talkies
3. Mini Folding Chair
4. Large Plastic Magnifying Glass
5. Star Projector
6. Kid's Metal Detector
7. Bug Listener
8. Bug Catching Kit
9. Plastic Telescope
10. Plastic Binoculars
11. Bug Vacuum
12.
