Poetry: Pain

If you only knew my pain,
then maybe you would understand.
I am slowly dying on the inside.
If you only knew
what it was like for me.
If you could only see
the tears that I have cried.
If you could only hear
that agony that I've gone through.
Maybe then you'd understand.
I am slowly dying on the inside.
If you could only see
the tears slide down my face
and shatter like glass into a million pieces.

If you could only feel
my hopes and dreams disintegrate.
If only you knew,
If only you knew,
maybe then you'd understand my pain.
The hurt that I've gone through
seems too great for me.
Now I am losing all control.
Can't you see it in my face?
Where is your compassion?
Have you seen the pain that you have caused?
If only, if only
you could hear my cries of sorrow,
maybe then you'd understand.
All of this is because of you.
All of this I've never felt until you.
Now I'm disappearing into nothingness.
If only you could feel my pain,
hear my hopes fall to the ground,
see my dreams crushed beneath you feet.
I am broken,
and you don't realize nor care.
I am gone away, disappeared.
Can you hear my faint cry for help?
Can you see my ghostly figure staring back at you
as if through a looking glass?
I have hurt more than you can imagine,
but you keep pushing me back down.
How can you not understand
my feelings?
If you only knew my pain,
then maybe you would see
the hurt that you have caused.
You broke my soul into tiny shards of broken glass.
You turned my heart to stone
and then broke it into tiny pebbles.
How can you not see the pain,
how can you not understand?
Why won't you listen
and see the tears glide down my hurt face?
I was once filled with hopes and dreams,
but then you came and turned them into unattainable wishes.
I'm gone away, never to return.
You won't miss me,
I know that.
My faint cry for help was not heard,
my ghostly figure wasn't seen,
and now I am dead on the inside.
I won't say it's because of you,
but when did you last try to help.
My hurt was not shared,
and the pain was all too much.
I am frozen up inside,
and a single tear falls to the floor
where it burst into a million lost feelings.
