Throughout my life I have had mysterious dreams that reoccur in different variations but the basic actions are usually the same. Most of my dreams have been made clear by things that have eventually happened to me. They all have been some sort of a premonition or warning about something that was going to happen.

When I was a teenager I kept having this dream about my father dying of a heart attack. It was terrifying because I was very close to my father. Later, when I was seventeen, a week after I graduated from high school, he did die of a heart attack at the age of 52.

I got married to a very controlling man at a young age and for a long time right after we got married I would have dreams about us splitting up. This, of course, was very upsetting because I was in love and couldn't image living without him but in my dreams I always managed to make things work out for me. We did get divorced fifteen years later. It would have been sooner if I hadn't been one to believe that you stayed together for the good and the bad.

During our marriage I had recurring dreams about vampires and people chasing us. The vampire dreams were so real that I couldn't watch vampire movies for a long time because I was terrified that I would have the vampire dreams afterward. The chase dreams involved people trying to catch us or kill us. There was one dream in which I actually got shot in the chest but I didn't die. Talk about freaky. That dream really scared me because I had had so many dreams by that point that had eventually come true or partially came true that I was terrified that something like that was really going to happen. I finally figured out what both dreams meant. Vampires are also considered people who suck the life out of you in a metaphoric way. They are people who use you and control you. This turned out to be my husband and his family. Once I was rid of them I didn't have the vampire dreams again until my daughters became teenagers. All you parents out there can just imagine why I started having the vampire dreams again. The dreams about people chasing us was about the bill collectors that always seemed to be calling. When I got rid of him, I got rid of those dreams too.

More recently I've been having dreams about talking to my ex-husband as a friend, talk about a nightmare. I still am working on figuring out what it means but I know it has something to do with the fact that I haven't been happy with myself recently. I've gained weight, which he would have never allowed me to do. I'm in a relationship in which I've allowed that person to have to much control over me and that seems to be the topic of my dream discussions with him. Maybe my dreams are warning me that I'm falling into the same habits in this relationship that I had in the relationship with him.

Dreams are fascinating. Keeping a dream log will definitely help you decipher them. Always look at what relationship they have to your current situation and if they about someone you love dying, make sure you tell them how much you love them and enjoy being with them every chance you get.
