Yes, country living is the best! You can sit on the back porch looking out at a huge yard and, no one will be looking back at you. There are no noisy neighbors to interrupt the serenity of a cool evening and a beautiful sunset. You may hear crickets chirping their evening song, or the breeze singing through the large, graceful pines. There is no pollution, no blaring horns from cars racing past your house, but instead, the faint and soothing sound of a babbling brook that is close by.
There are neighbors close by who would not think twice about helping you out and there is no request for payment. They are a blessing, bringing hot chicken soup to you when you are sick. If you run into the ditch on a snowy, slick evening, your country neighbors are right there bearing shovels. After they generously get you unstuck, you'll sit at the kitchen table of your home sipping a hot cup of coffee and eating cake.
Yes, country living is the best! Sit at the bank of a creek and watch the flow of the water while serenely planning your day or, maybe you're just working on a problem you may have. The hustle and bustle of the morning is filled with squirrels running up through the trees and rabbits prancing; not smelly exhaust fumes from cars that come from cars while stuck in traffic.
I grew up on a farm in the Midwest. Oh, how I miss the smell of the freshly cut hay and the general feeling that everything was just fine. I remember when I helped with the milking and having to watch for the tail and the "kick" but, no matter, I loved it all anyway! We used to pick fresh corn and bring it up to the kitchen where mom would prepare a wonderful meal.
Family gatherings at home were much more fun than going to town where my uncle and aunt lived. When we got together at Christmas time, my cousins and I could bundle up and go outside to build a snowman or go to the creek below my parents home to iceskate. One year, we hooked the horse up to a sleigh and I went riding with my great grandmother in the moonlit night. Hot cider awaited us when we came into the warm house.
Yes, country living is the best! As a grown woman, I live out in the country on fourteen acres of private land. I have the best of both worlds here. I enjoy the serenity and peaceful living of the country life but, if I want to experience the benefits of the city, I don't have to go very far. I can jump in my car and go about twenty miles to enjoy the city with all of its hustle and bustle.
