To truly experience the island paradise, known as Hawaii, you need to get away from the crowded tourist beaches and big islands and spend some time on Lanai, Molokai and Niihau. These more remote Hawaiian Islands offer the peace and tranquility you can't achieve while sitting in traffic on the bigger islands crowded roadways.
On the beautiful island of Lanai, you can go snorkeling in Hulopoe Bay or spend some time basking in the sun on Hulopoe Beach; which was voted one of America's best beaches and is located on Lanai's southern coast.
No visit to Lanai would be complete without a trip to the Garden of the God's at Keahiakawelo. You can enjoy this mars-like rock garden with its unusual towers and rock formations, by taking a drive to the end of Polihua road.
For more than a hundred year the Island of Niihau, The Forbidden Island' has been virtually cut off from the rest of the world. The island is a privately own cattle ranch with about 250 residents and is literally untouched by modern development.
You will step back in time when you visit this untamed haven through either one of their Half Day Tours or Hunting Safaris. You will be flown over to the island on an, Agusta 109A, twin engine helicopter, and will be given on an aerial tour of Niihau before you set down on one of the secluded pristine beaches where you can swim, snorkel or sunbath with the monk seals. Lunch and refreshments are included as part of your tour.
It won't take you long to realize that Molokai is a prefect cross between relaxing island beauty and exhilarating nature outings. Start out with a ride along the highest sea cliffs in the world. You will fall in love with the peace and serenity as you ride a mule along the 2.9 mile trail of the Kalaupapa Peninsula.
Next, take a guided tour into the Halawa Valley to the Mooula Falls. This rigorous 4.2 mile round trip hike will take you through some of the most spectacular native scenery to the double tiered, 250 foot Moolua Falls. The Kamakou Preserve boasts over 200 rare plants and has the near extinct olomao and kawawahie birds in residence. You can hike up into the mountains or take a stroll down the Kamakou boardwalk through this 3000 acres preserve.
