While much as been said about the history of druidism, little has been said about the role of women in druid society today.

We are the druids of today and as such we have washed back on shore with a new understanding. All belief systems go through their personal growth cycles and druidism is no exception. The druids of yesterday, male and female, had individual roles to play in that growth and that holds true today. Back then however, they separated the classes and roles somewhat more strictly than today.

Many times people will mistake the meaning of the symbols used within a belief system for the whole of the system. Their give literal meaning to metaphoric teachings. The teachings of druidism is found hidden away within the stories or all religions and that is because mankind's understanding of whole is interpreted differently or in ways appropriate to the times and target group. The truth is the truth and while man has added much to benefit himself, it still remains the same. All people are given the truth, many seek it, and few are able to get it. Many are called but few are chosen.

Within the druid system of understanding the woman held an equal position because they had the understanding that women were equal spiritually and in all ways to men. They did hold property and positions of great authority because it was what they were capable of and for the most part the men had the understanding that it was only by being initiated into the aspects gained by travel through the arena of the dark goddess that they could come to wholeness. The same can be said to be true for woman being initiated into themselves. While woman are born with a knowing of the earthy aspects of mankind's nature, they are also born with a direct connection to the collective unconscious ruled by the ancestors. Men must be initiated into that aspect of themselves. Women only need to be initiated into the arena controlled by the Horned God to be whole. Mankind needs to first know what it is to be male in society, he then needs to journey to whole through the kingdom of the dark goddess. It is here he meets his mortality face to face.

Today, much of the teaching of the secrets of the systems of druidism is taught by the females or by enlightened males. Through that teaching what is hoped for is a more balanced way of going and less stress, anxiety and more personal peace and control. This overall benefits the whole of the population in that as enlightenment grows so to does the chance that was one day will become less likely as people begin to seek balanced ways of dealing with their problems instead of immediately waving their swords and calling countries to war. We stand as truth against the world.
