Being unequally yoked

It is a statement made often in the world of Christendom. Often used
but less often understood. What does it mean to be Unequally yoked?
For that matter, what does it mean to be equally yoked? How am I as
a Christian suppose to know the difference?

First, as a Christian, we must understand the context and the reference
to which the verse of scripture was referring. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Reads

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light
with darkness?"

If used in the context of the chapter, it refers to non-believers. To
those who have not come into the knowledge of the truth in Christ. The
thought is very simple and is so profound. We are to separate ourselves
from those that are not believers. Does this mean that we are not to
communicate at all with none believers? No. It means that the more
that we allow our beliefs to be influenced by unbelievers, the more
tainted our beliefs may become. Especially with regards to marriage
and relationships.

I have watch many relationships pull men and women out of the church
because of there connections with Non-Christians. Likewise, I have found
Christians that dated other Christians and because of them being unequally yoked
they also left the church. What is the problem then? The focus has to be
on the relationship. The relationship that I am referring to is the one with
Christ.

There are many people who are very much so Christians on paper. Have been so for
the majority of there lives, but have no relationship with Christ. If that is the
case then it is as if you are with someone that is an unbeliever. There are also
many points that Christians may disagree on.

By beholding we do become changed. If we consistently deal with non believers
there thoughts and actions will become harder for us to ignore. We will, in most
case find ourselves following after some of there ways and relaxing some of ours.

It proves to be difficult if not impossible for us as Christians to not be humans.
And in being human, our orientation changes perception on life and with our perception
changed our faith is changed as well.

Fortification requires constant renewal. Personal and interpersonal. If you are not
fortified in the faith and do not have the interpersonal connections to that faith, then
most likely you will fall out of that faith. This is even more prevalent with regards
to marriages. If you are of different faiths, it is more likely that one faith will be
active in the
