I'll admit that I've been watching The Amazing Race, and I can't believe it. A group of Americans divided into teams of two race all around the world just to win a million bucks. I don't know how they do it. How do they get by financially? I certainly hope that they have their passports, visas, shots, or any of the other things that they need to not only get from one country to another, but to enter these countries as well. I do know that the Eastern European nations and Russia require visas for U.S. citizens to enter.
It must take a great amount of energy, stamina, and fitness in order for these people to be racing around the world just to win a million bucks. I mean, last week, I saw them over in Ireland riding on donkeys and picking up peat bogs. Then last Sunday (November 11), they were rushing to get to the Shannon Airport to catch a flight to Amsterdam. Once they got to Amsterdam, they had to find these specially colored bikes, lift up heavy furniture into a private apartment, then they catch a bus out to some rural village where they have to jump across an irrigation ditch; getting themselves all filthy and dirty.
I don't know if it was last season or not, but I saw the one show where another group of contestants were in Paris. They had to get the airport to catch a flight to New York, then once they got there, they had to take a cab some fifty miles to some Catholic boarding school where they winners were determined.
I might want to research this show a little bit further. I'd like to find out how these people get chosen.
