There are many people who believe that our country was founded on Christianity, which is one reason that Christianity is the leading religion in America.Through years of religious teachings and traditions there are many people who were under the impression that becoming a Christian were our founding fathers vision for America. Many of our founding fathers were aware of the importance of religion for this country, however it was not their intention to set forth a set established religion.They had the foresight and wisdom to make sure this country would not be influenced through religious tryanny while writing the Constitution of The United States and the first ammendment.

There are also many who follow the Christian religion because they believe that because the majority follows the Christian religion,then Christian doctrines must be the absolute truth concerning a religious belief.

Evangelists and countless books on the subject of Christianity would also have an impact on choosing to be a Christian.

Children who are raised by parents who follow the Christian religion are more likely as adults to also raise their children the same way.Thousands of years of traditons and following the majority may be another reason that Christianity is the leading religion in America.

Another reason that Christianity is the leading religion in America is the promise of reward by Christian teachings of heaven and eternal life.The desire for immortality or the alternative of being punished forever after death is another great motivator for being a Christian.

Many of us need the reassurance that forgiveness for our past and present mistakes will be forgiven and Christianity promises that as long as we repent and ask for forgiveness,it will be granted.This may be true,however to truely be forgiven,we must also forgive ourselves in the process.Many people need something to believe in and Christianity seems to be the answer for many looking for answers to questions as to why we are here and what is our purpose.

Christianity is not based on fact, it is based solely on faith.If being a Christian gives one a sense of peace and calms the fear of death,then one can easily understand why Christianity is the leading religion in America.
